-Strengthen Ankeny Schools' relationship with DMACC.

    -Offer additional college prep resources.

  • A standard four year college isn't right for everyone. Ankeny Schools should provide students who wish to enter a trade opportunities for training and work experience.

As a member of the Ankeny School Board, I will:

-Advocate for building a 3rd nontraditional high school with class offerings centered around trade skills and work experience.

-Connect with local trade unions and employers to create opportunities for on the job work experience.

    -Expand the Orbis program.

  • All students deserve the resources and support necessary to reach their full potential.

As a member of the Ankeny School Board, I will work to:

-Provide tutors to students struggling academically.

    -Expand existing literacy programs.

-Hire qualified instructors to help meet the needs of students who require an Individualized Education Program (IEP) or a 504 plan (a specialized education plan for students with learning disabilities.)

  • Kids don't learn on empty stomachs.

Children facing hunger are more likely to have poor grades, have social and behavioral problems, and experience developmental impairments in areas like language and motor skills.

Furthermore, children on free and reduced lunches are frequently the targets of bullying and harassment.

As a member of the Ankeny School Board, I will:

-Work toward eliminating all student lunch debt.

-Lobby the Iowa Legislature and Federal Government to institute a universal school lunch program.
